Around the East of Scotland League

Premier Division

There is a wide range of league matches played by each club due to the various cup competitions, however, Spartans carry on from where they left of last season; at the top of the league and still unbeaten. Both Stirling University and Gretna have a significant number of games in hand on the league leaders but can either catch them?

First Division

Preston remain top of the league, however, still a lot to play for with only half of the scheduled matches played so far. Coldstream have been in excellent form of late and it looks like a four way battle between us, Eyemouth, Heriot-Watt and Coldstream for the promotion places. Can Craigroyston get back to form? Will Gala make a charge once they start their home fixtures? Looks like being an exciting few months.

Scottish Cup

The last two East of Scotland teams left in the competition, Gala Fairydean and Vale of Leithen, went out in the third round to Airdrie United and Auchinleck Talbot respectively.

Alex Jack Cup

The first trophy of the season has been won by Stirling University who retained the cup they won last year following a 3-0 defeat of Gretna at the Pennypit.

Image Printers Cup

Edinburgh City beat Whitehill Welfare 3-2 in the final played at Ainslie Park on 4th December.

SFA South Region Challenge Cup

The first all-in round is scheduled for February. Unfortunately Preston were knocked out in the first round by Kelso United.

King Cup

The action kicks off the last weekend in January when Preston Athletic travel away to face Gala Fairydean. The winners of that tie will play Ormiston at home at the start of March.
