Ormiston 1 – 5 Preston Ath
@ East Mains Training Complex
Preston kicked off their first fixture under new manager Colin Jack at a very warm Hibs Training Centre against their local rivals Ormiston.
The home side fielded many ex-Preston players with Michael Osbourne, Chris Cairney, George Cunningham and Craig Innes starting against their old side, also Declan Quinn who is currently sidelined after a health scare.
With only 6 players left over from last season’s disappointing campaign the new look Panners started well and were 2 up within 20 minutes, Max Todd rounding off a good move to fire across goal into the net then a few minutes later Ross Lamb broke forward and rounded the keeper to poke home.
Brandon Archibald came off the bench at half time and made an immediate impact scoring 2 goals in 2 minutes, the 2nd a very well taken effort under pressure in the box.
Michael Osbourne ‘Ozzy’ then gave the home side some hope with a trademark strike from the edge of the box, latching onto a slack clearance from the Preston defence to rifle home.
The impressive Max Todd struck a brilliant 25 yard effort into the top corner to round off the scoring (see YouTube clip) and seal a comfortable 5 – 1 win
