@ Middleshot 3g
Preston Athletic continued their winning start under new manager Colin Jack against East of Scotland side Coldstream. The visitors listed no fewer than 9 trialists but more than held their own on the 3G surface at Middleshot.
Coldstream should have taken an early lead as a loose back pass put the Preston defence under pressure and striker Langford raced in on goal only to shoot weakly at Chris Flockhart. Preston however then took the lead in the tenth minute as a great cross by Andy Jones was converted well at the back post by Gary Nicholson.
Nicholson broke clear again on the half hour but was unfortunate to see the ball hit the post / keeper for a corner. Just before half time Jamie Todd rose well to connect with a Taylor Aitchison corner but headed just over.
The away side started the half confidently without troubling the Preston defence, however on the hour mark Preston could have doubled the advantage as a long range effort from Taylor Aitchison had Coldstream keeper Glasper scrambling to tip over. Taylor then flashed another good effort just across goal. Coldstream drew level on 70 minutes as a long ball looked to be well covered but Chris Moffat tried to head back to Flockhart who had come off his line and was deceived as the ball looped over him and into the net.
Coldstream then hit the bar with a free kick from the centre of the box, but it was the Panners who were to snatch victory as a superb shot by Aitchison came back off the bar only to rebound off the in-rushing defender who couldn’t prevent the ball crossing the line.
