Preston Athletic 0 – 5 University of Stirling

The Students once again left the Pennypit with a comfortable victory, Stirling went ahead after Craig Pennycuick could only palm a Paul Sludden freekick into the net. The visitors were then denied further goals as Neil Dewar headed clear off the line and Pennycuick was at full stretch to stop Sludden. Almost straight from kick off Sludden converted a very debatable penalty which was awarded after Stewart Davidson was adjudged to have fouled Jeff Duah-Kessie, minutes later Duah-Kessie rounded Pennycuick to slot home after a well worked move. Nick Perry then had Preston’s best chance heading onto the bar. David Scott also forced keeper Tim Hughes into a fine save.
Chris Geddes curled in the fourth only minutes after coming on as a sub and then Sludden completed his hat-trick with another penalty which saw Reece Cochrane sent off for something said to the referee. With Threave Rovers starting to pick up points the clash on the 13th April at the Pennypit between the sides now takes on massive significance in the battle to avoid the drop.
