Mixed Results From The Panners Against Penicuik Athletic & Edinburgh University.

Preston Athletic 2-5 Penicuik Athletic Tues 11th July 2017

Preston Athletic 3-1 Edinburgh University Sat 15th July 2017

Preston Athletic had mixed fortunes on the friendly front this past week. They played a double header at Middleshot 3G in Prestonpans. The first this past Tuesday night against a very good Penicuik Athletic side who were playing their first pre season match.

They showed their class by hitting 3 goals in 28 first half minutes from an Aaron Somerville hat-trick.  And he added two more to his tally in the 53rd and 58th minutes. Preston did get 2 goals back before the end from a great 25 yard volley by a Trialist and a Declan Quinn free-kick.

On the Saturday they faced Edinburgh University who stepped in for Danderhall Amateurs. The students had the better of the first half exchanges and hit the opener from Finn Daniels-Yoeman who struck a sweet 30 yard shot past the trialist goalkeeper in the home goal.

The home side bounced back 5 mins into the second half when Marc Reid hit a long ball forward which Greg Binnie finished off well. The second goal came when a trialist crossed over and was diverted in to his own net by Hamish Flett. The final goal was scored by Jason Young for Preston as he pounced on a ball 20 yards out and passed it past the keeper.

Next up for the Panners is Dalkeith Thistle on Tuesday night at Pennypit Park.
