Kelty Hearts 4-0 Preston Athletic

Kelty Hearts hit Preston Athletic for 4 as they advanced to the semi-finals of the East Of Scotland League Cup

The visitors travelled in good spirits after scoring 14 goals in wins over Coldstream and Burntisland and were looking to keep things going in Fife against the former East Super League winners.

The home side made the early running in the match and they opened the scoring in the 10th minute when former Spartans striker Errol Douglas fires home from close range.

The second goal came when Neil McCabe crossed to the back post and Scott Dalziel headed home unmarked at the back post.

Preston’s only clear chance came from a Jack Jardine volley early in the half. Kelty nearly got a third goal  when Douglas and Dalziel combined after a McCabe ball in, but was called offside.

The second half started with Jonny Grotlin firing close after being set up by Michael McFarlane. But Kelty hit a third goal when Stephen Husband set Elliot Ford down the wing. He  played into Stephen Husband who set up Brian Ritchie who fired home a curling shot past Inglis.

The scoring was finished off with a fourth goal when Scott Taylor-McKenzie put the ball in, Stephen Husband fired a shot forward, it deflected off David Liddle towards goal and Jordyn Sheerin fired home as Michael McFarlane tried to clear it.

Kelty now advance to the semis and Preston now look ahead to the league game against Eyemouth United on Saturday
