Hero Innes grabs point for Preston at the Uni

Heriot Watt Uni 2-2 Preston Athletic

League leaders travelled to the John Brydson Arena to face a Heriot Watt team who were sitting in fourth prior to the match and the Panners were looking to keep their good run going.

Preston had the best of the early chances in the first 20 minutes with Kieran Jack and Alexander Dimitrov coming close to opening the scoring.  The deadlock was broken on 25 minutes.

Ross Cowan, Greg Binnie, Jonny Grotlin were all involved and it was Binnie who put over the ball for Gavin Stevenson to make it 1-0.

The students levelled inside of 4 minutes when on 29 minutes Anton Dowds hit a great shot off the post and in past Inglis into the net. The game was evenly balanced all the way to the break after great chances and good football by both teams.

The second half started well as the students nearly went 2-1 ahead through  an Anton Dowds free kick.  He was being a thorn in the Preston sides as he was the guy pulling the strings for Heriot-Watt.

But they did take the lead through Jackson Barker on 77mins as he fired home a good finish set up by Ronald Napier.

Preston never gave in and Greg Binnie was involved again as he fired a ball across and it fell to left back Craig Innes to fire home to end the scoring and get the league leaders a point at Riccarton.

Next Up, Preston are on their travels again as they make the short trip to Meadowbank to face Leith Athletic in the SFA South Region Cup 2nd Round.
