Preston found themselves on their travels for the third time this year as they travelled down to Eyemouth United. The lads have won three out of the last four away league matches and wanted to continue this against a team they scored 8 against back in September 2017 at the Pennypit.
Winger Alexander Dimitrov was looking to add to his previous week’s hat trick against Tweedmouth but it was striker Jonny Grotlin who was to open the scoring on 12 minutes at Warner Park.
Jack Jardine was the next to score as he made it 2-0 nine minutes later with defender Steven Campbell scoring the visitors’ third on 33 minutes. However, it then went from happy to sad for the Panners when they were reduced to 10 men as midfielder Dale Pennycuick was shown the red card for a second bookable offence. Earlier in the half, Eyemouth were also reduced in numbers as Jamie Logie and Stuart Briggs were sent off for the fishermen.
The Panners kept the pressure on Eyemouth in the second half, and put away another two from strikers Greg Binnie and Jonny Grotlin. An own goal from the unfortunate Eyemouth side made it a final score of 0-6 to keep the East Lothian side in 3rd place in the league table, one point behind Leith and eleven behind runaway leaders Kelty.f
Next up is a run of three matches at home (weather permitting) against Heriot-Watt University (Sat 10 Feb), Stirling University (Sat 17 Feb) and Lothian Thistle HV (Tue 20 Feb).
