More of the same on Players Profile. Stevie Myatt Position: Gaffer Club Comments: Now entering his 11th season as Preston manager, Has a underlying passion for the game and any spare time he has is spent trying to improve Preston Athletic wither its on or off the park, Preston have become a very competitive East of Scotland side & Stevie has them pushing to get to the next level once again, his best moment with the club will have to be beating Stenhousemuir in the Tennents Scottish Cup. He may tell you different… Asset: Commitment to the game, passion!! Improve: Trophies at the club.
Billy Byrne Position: Coach Club Comments: Joined as a player from Bonnyrigg Rose in July 2001 and helped progress the club as a player then progressed to coach and now assistant. Although he doesn’t like the title… Ensures varied and competitive edge runs through all training sessions as well as improving upper body strength, he is a popular figure at the club and still convinced he should be playing not to the fault of Stevie but a simple other reason his D.O.B. Asset: Always wants more from people Improve: Trophies at the club
Iain Houston Position: Coach Club Comments: Joined the club from Edina Hibs U21’s after choosing senior over several junior options second season at the club won Player of the year & committee’s player of the year. The season after he was looking to build on that until a challenge in a away tie to Craigroyston started a back log of knee problems 3 operations later and he has now hung the boots up. Has taken up a coaching role after the departure of Willie Jamieson and is already making his mark on the training ground. Asset: Diagrams & setting out cones Improve: Trophies at the club.
Jimmy Hadden Position: Physio Club Comments: Jimmy is the club physio / bag man / rubs man and sports psychologist! Preston’s answer to Claire Rayner, he is the one who gets all the players problems!!!!!! (And then grasses to the Gaffer) On a Saturday he is the most entertaining one out of the dug out lot, if its not his impression of a cat on a hot tin roof when Preston are near the opposition goal then his classic sense of humour certainly gives us a laugh… Asset: Honesty & listening Improve: Controlling nerves
Craig Scott Position: Defence / Midfield Club Comments: Scotty or Leggy was Stevie Myatt's first signing for the club and is deserving of all praise that comes his way, As Captain of the club he can be very noisy on the park but that is mainly pointed towards the referee or the opposition, his Captain role is leading by example by the sheer work rate and passion for the game. Which is a credit to himself and the game as a whole Asset: Attitude on and off the park Improve: How to use that noise to help others around him.
Greg McColl Position: Midfield Previous Clubs: Edinburgh City Club Comments: Greg is a fiery midfielder who loves to roll the sleeves up and get torn in, what people don’t realise is that Greg has one of the best touches at the club but when he lets his heart rule is head that doesn’t shine through on game days. Opposition’s nightmare as will never give in…. Asset: Passion Improve: Control the passion when in possession
Matt Costello Position: Defence Club Comments: Quietly goes about his business and is very well respected defender within the East of Scotland big powerful centre back who has appeared a number of times for East Select squad since arriving at the Pennypit in 2005, can show great composure when given the license to do so, sometimes to much. Asset: Heading ability & composure on the ball. Improve: Solving problems, make the point before its to late.
Stuart Miller
Position: Forward
Club Comments:
A Player who signed for Preston at the third time of asking, will go down in Pans history as a scorer in our first ever victory over a league team against Stenhousemuir. Has a great football brain which is shown in a proven goal scoring record over the last few seasons this also helps create just as many chance’s for his team mates to get on the score sheet, he does need to trust his pace more though either that or understand that the ref isn’t always wrong when he is offside.
Asset: GOALS
Ritchie McCaul
Position: Defence
Club Comments:
Ritchie had turned down Stevie Myatt for 9 consecutive seasons until finally he agreed at the peak of his career so Preston took a chance on the sprightly 38 yo with an unblemished discipline record. Ritchie is an out and out defender who is in the game to win and will do anything to see that happen’s makes a hell of a noise on the park but when broken down that noise is a mix of nerves crossed with messages from the sidelines trying to get to the players listen..
Asset: Born winner
